Reference Letter for Planner at Venue

Our reception venue is closing in June for good. It is part of the University of New Hampshire and they are using it for something else. Anyway our wedding planner at the venue was absolutely amazing to work with. She just e-mailed me and asked for a letter of reference from us, which I am more than happy to write for her. She is hoping to find another job in the same field. What are some things that you think would be important to mention in the letter? She basically took care of all fo the planning at the venue (food, lay-out etc.), met all of the vendors making deliveries on the day of and took care of all of the set-up for the reception. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Re: Reference Letter for Planner at Venue

  • I would highlight how she made you feel.  If I were hiring someone to fill a wedding planner position, I would want to know how she has calmed nerves, reassured you that X is happening, communication style is _______, how the day went from the perspective of both the bride and a guest, etc.

When we met with a planner, I didn't care as much about how many weddings she had done.  It mattered more to me that she had the resources necessary to solve any problems that arose.

     Good Luck!

  • I would definitely highlight her creative touches; define why she should stood out to you among others you might have chosen.  Beyond that, I'm no help.  Good luck!
  • Definitely mention if there were any problems and how she solved them, if she kept you/DH/family calm and, like pp said, what made her stand out to you. HTH!
  • ditto previous suggestions...also I would say something like, "although she has handled countless weddings/special events (often at the same time), she somehow made it seem that my wedding was the only and most important event on her agenda."

(that's if your REALLY like here lol)

  • Thanks for all of the suggestions, that was really helpful!
