I've been meaning to check in and see you how you are doing lately? and how's your dad doing? I hope everything's going as well as can be expected.
Re: Jen S
awww, thanks for checking in!
we are doing good. i think now that my dad is settled in WV and sees all the time in front of him, the time isn't going as fast as he wishes it would. my mom and brother visited him already and said it was an old, but really nice facility.
we go up to visit him the first weekend in june, i am so excited! he gets to meet his granddaughter!
i send him a card every week with 20 pictures "(the max i am allowed) and he loves it.
we are trying to work out the holidays now...not easy trying to make everyone happy and see my dad at the same time!
he is petitioning to be moved to ocala, FL, about a 4 hour drive from here. the judge had ordered that he be in a florida facility and we are also saying that the distance is too hard on my grandfather to travel to see my dad and that he should be closer. we should find out in the next month....we are saying our prayers!
I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I totally understand the time thing. Time around here goes fast, but at times it feels like forever until George comes home. Even though we're well over 1/2 way there at this point it still feels like it's never going to get here. He feels the same some days - sometimes it's flying by and others it's dragging on.
That's awesome about your visit! I can't wait to hear about it!!
You should ask him if they take pictures during visitation. They do in VA State, but I'm not sure about Fed. I know that George has to buy a ticket (it's like a buck or two) and then they'll take a picture during visit and they print them off and give them to the inmate. At his old place they had murals on the walls so we've got a "beach vacation" picture and a "Christmas" picture (this past Christmas they actually had a tree up so we got to take a family photo in front of the tree. He thought it was lame, mom and I were super excited.
Holidays are definitely hard. I totally feel ya on that one. We try to go see George the week before (or weekend) depending on the holiday and when it falls. I always feel bad cause he's spending the holiday alone, but he seems to hold up better than I do with that one.
I hope he's successful at getting back to FL. That'll be so much easier to be able to see him. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you on that one!!
funny that you mention that. i guess there is one inmate whose job it is to take pictures. my mom and brother saw him when they visited and my mom asked about it. my dad said that he didn't want to take any pictures because he didn't want to have any pictures of him in prison.
but then i asked him if he would do it when we came in june. i didn't want Josie to be 1 1/2 years old before she got a picture with her pop pop!
so he agreed, he paid for 4 pictures and he gets 2 copies of each, so he will send us one and keep one for himself. i can't wait! i'll definitely share it when we get it!
