Not sure if you say my post about my DH and his current job, but he is studying to take the certification for high school math. And I saw that is what you do.... do you have any advice for him? He is cramming like crazy to take it the first week of June.
Once he takes the test he can start applying for jobs, **hallelujah!**, and starts the training/student teaching program in July.

Anything you have would be greatly appreciated!

  • Sorry didn't read the post.  But yay and good luck to him.  What kind of degree does he have right now?  I have a BS in Applied Math and I found the content exam to be pretty straight forward.  I studied, but nothing hard core and passed easily.  However, I've heard for education majors the test seems harder.  Something about not as many calculus classes in college.  Really he should be fine.

I take the PPR this summer, I haven't challenged that one yet, but that's the one that scares me.  My email is angelaggie at msn if you or him have any questions at all.  I love my job and I teach in one of the worst schools violence and standardized test wise in the state :)  Ha.  Good kids, bad area if that makes sense.

  • Just found the post! He should easily be able to find a job.  I was hired within a week of a job fair.  High school math teachers are in high demand and I know of several districts that need several more.  I'll be teaching in PISD and the school I'm going to needs 5 more math teachers as of now.  And that's just one school in a good district!  Someone who coaches they like even more.
