Relocation help please - Fort Worth

I currently live in Michigan and just found out that FI may be transferred to the Fort Worth area.  I don't know anything about Texas and want to start researching places for us to live, but am not sure where to start!

We are late 20's/30, getting married later this year, and aren't planning on having kids in the near future.  We're looking for good areas for professionals our age to live with lots of things to do in the area, restaurants/entertainment/shopping/museums.  We're hoping to meet other younger people like ourselves and aren't ready for the quiet family neighborhood in the suburbs just yet.  Any recommendations as to where to look would be greatly appreciated!

  • the Mongomery Plaza area is great for what you are talking about... close to downtown, museums, etc. There area also some great loft spaces downtown that would fit what you are looking for as well. Anything loft like on W. 7th Street...
  • Ditto 7th Street around Montgomery Plaza, and also check out Southside around Magnolia Ave--Fairmount and Ryan Place are the neighborhood names.  Camp Bowie and Ridglea area has cool stuff, too.  Southside/Magnolia area is my favorite and if I didn't work so far away from there, I'd move there in a heartbeat.

  • Arlington Heights is also a great area, lots of cute homes, close to almost everything!

If thats not in your budget, I really like Benbrook. Lots of affordable homes in nice areas with lots of families!

  • We live in Michigan and may be moving to Fort Worth also!  We are in Southeast Michigan in the Downriver area right now.  I have never lived outside of this area, so I am really nervous, but excited about the opportunity!
