  • I live in central Florida but am from upstate NY. I LOVE Clifton Park. My husband is from Scotia right near CP. Scotia is also really nice.
  • Hello!  I live in Albany, downtown near Washington Park so I don't think you'd be interested in that neighborhood, but there's lots of great places to live.  Do you want a backyard, close to shops, good schools, etc?  Latham is great but I'm not sure how many rentals there are.  I guess post over on the Upstate NY board more of your wants/needs and we will all try to help.  Good luck!

My niece lives in Slingerlands and loves it.  She is close to the malls and stuff but yet her town house has a wooded area and she loves to run with her dog.
  • I'm from that area. I would try Clifton Park first -- it's a really nice town with beautiful neighborhoods and great schools, in case you have kids or are planning to have them. It also has a lot of convenient shopping areas.

Agree. My DH's cousin lives there with his kids. We have visited several times and it seems lovely.

  • My husband is from there and all of his family lives there.  He says basically, anything outside of downtown Albany or Schenectady will be fine.  Since you need to be by the airport, he said Colonie is probably best.  He said the only thing to consider is that a lot of these places might not even have sidewalks, which is a consideration when walking.

He also mentioned looking at Loudinville (sp?) as a potential place.

He's looking at more for you :)

  • He says you don't want to live in Watervliet--isn't a great area and not actually that close.

He also says that Latham looks close, but it can be kind of a pain to get to the airport from there with traffic, etc.

Parts of Schenectady on Troy Schenectady Rd (rte 7) will be fine too--just don't want to be close to downtown Schenectady.

He's also seeing an area called Newtonville, which he just always thought was part of Loudonville.  That area is nice.

  • He also says that Clifton Park is really nice, but not that close to the airport.
