definitely get several coats..it gets COLD! I went to undergrad there a few moons ago so i'm not helpful with where to stay...Good luck with things...
Agree. My DH's cousin lives there with his kids. We have visited several times and it seems lovely.
My husband is from there and all of his family lives there. He says basically, anything outside of downtown Albany or Schenectady will be fine. Since you need to be by the airport, he said Colonie is probably best. He said the only thing to consider is that a lot of these places might not even have sidewalks, which is a consideration when walking.
He also mentioned looking at Loudinville (sp?) as a potential place.

He says you don't want to live in Watervliet--isn't a great area and not actually that close.
He also says that Latham looks close, but it can be kind of a pain to get to the airport from there with traffic, etc.
Parts of Schenectady on Troy Schenectady Rd (rte 7) will be fine too--just don't want to be close to downtown Schenectady.
He's also seeing an area called Newtonville, which he just always thought was part of Loudonville. That area is nice.
