So next weekend we're making our annual Memorial Day weekend trek to Coalinga, CA for some softball and beer. This year, I was hoping to leave the dogs with MIL so I could concentrate on Scarlett, but MIL has plans. We took Rawlings there once and he was more than I could handle. He's not obedient around other dogs. We'd have to leave them at our friends' house all day (which is ok).
The friends we are staying with have a dog (Mollie, Ginger's mom) and BM & PP are probably bringing their (big, but dopey) dog, too. Don't know how Rawlings and him will get along.
My main concerns are A) dealing with them while I really want to focus on Scarlett (although I will have help because she will have lots of "mommies" there) and that last year, the dogs got out through their fence! They stuck to the front yard, but Ginger is totally an escape artist now. Also, I'm not sure how we will fit the dogs and the baby in the SUV with all of our gear. That will be a challenge.
Our other option is leaving them at home and having friends and family check in (so many logistics to this since we're not geographically close to anyone). They've already proven to be destructive if left alone, so I'm not happy with this option.
What would you choose?
Re: Dog advice
Of the two options I would probably have friends and family check on them.
But like PP suggested I would look into boarding them for the weekend. I think alot of places will let the dogs stay in the same kennel which is better for them and a little cheaper for you.
