My Friends...

I so wish I was playing a drinking game where I got to drink every time Mac said "my friends."

Didn't tho.

Sad.

So...

Re: My Friends...

  • A group of my older colleagues (yep older than me!) use the term "my friend" all the time. I would live drunk at work if I played there!

I guess it is an age thing. And it doesn't bother me because I hear it so much from some really sweet people. In a way I find it endearing so I have a positive reaction when I hear it even from McCain.

  • Oh my goodness - it made me SOOOO uncomfortable!  At first it's kind of endearing, but by the 50th time or so, it just got weird Tongue Tied

Yeah, I'm not bothered by it.  I actually think it's nice, kind of a humble way to greet someone.  He does say it a lot.

I'm not sure what is a good greeting.  "Listen" did not work for Obama.

I was annoyed by "my friends" and was equally annoyed by Obama saying "listen" or "look" when starting a sentence.  That has always annoyed me by both candidates.

  • I also liked "my friends" at first, but after awhile it seemed more condescending than genuine. Same with "listen"... after awhile it's no longer as earnest. Hopefully their handlers will let them know and they won't do it in the next debate.
  • Drives me batty too...but I think it's just a bad habit now.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
  • Annoys the crap out of me. It didn't bother me so much until he started saying it two and three times in his response to every question.
  • Ditto.

FI had to restrain me to keep me from throwing things at the t.v.  I'm sorry, John, but you are definitely not "my friend." Sad
