If you were interviewing for a position that you knew would not normally allow for you to take a vacation during a certain time, but you have already booked such vacation would you disclose it during the interview ? Thanks.
Re: Interview question
This. I agree with Punky. At my old job, NO ONE was allowed to take vacations or any time off within 5 business days of the first tuesday of any month (We did foreclosures, and that was sale day. So no time off that week, or the week before sale). However, if we found a candidate we wanted to hire, and they told us during negotiations that they already had a vacation planned/booked, we would let them take it. The likelihood of hiring an interview candidate that brought it up in the interview, on the other hand, was pretty slim.
Don't feel guilty I would say half the new hires we hire have previous vacations booked at the time of hire. It's honestly no big deal. Especially April-August and the holiday season.
2 weeks after starting my job, my uncle died and I had to take 5 days of bereavement. It was sudden, I told my boss it was going to happen any day when I started my first day. It was no big thing at all. I'd like to think most companies are like that.
