Need help with cape house

So H and I are planning a week at the cape, we have both never been, so I was wondering if anyone would mind helping pick a house for us or atleast narrowing it down.

We had 30, I narrowed it down to 10, H narrowed it down to 5. However, all are different towns, which we have no idea what is the best one. We have DD and our dog. We want to go to beach, but probably not everyday.

This may sound silly but some houses say deed to beach, do we need that?

Here are the houses

Thanks for any help

I haven't been to many of the towns on the cape, but I like the Hyannis area. I don't know much about Sandwich, Dennis, and Chatham. Sandwich will be on the bay side. The water may be a touch water than the Atlanic side. Chatham is further out on the Cape than the others, so it will be a bit of a longer drive.

Many of the beaches in some areas are private to residents only. A deed probably refers to a pass (or something like that) so you can access the beach the property is near.

  • I think other ladies on the board will be much more knowledgeable about the Cape than I am, but I just thought I'd say that Chatham always seems to come highly recommended and DH and I stayed there with another couple a couple of years ago and enjoyed the location.  We were at a B&B though so I can't help you re: the houses.  Good luck and have a great trip!
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • We vacation in Centerville every summer. Craigville beach is super clean, with warm water and sand that they rake/clean every morning. It's nice cause its a 5 minute drive to the center of Hyannis which has cute little shops and some great little restaurants. The ferry to the Vineyard is right there too. Its also close to the Cape Code Melody Tent to catch a show. So my vote is for the Centerville place :)
  • sent you a private message :)
  • I lived on the Cape for 20+ years.  I would say if your not planning on spending all your time at the beach...stay in the Mid-Cape area.  Anywhere form Chatham to Dennis, Yarmouth, Hyannis, Centerville, Barnstable.  There is much more to do!  Couldn't tell which beaches some of those house were near.  I'm partial to beaches on the North side!!!
