But mom! I wanna see!

The dogs are already destroying the (cheapie) window blinds.  Any advice?  Shutters? Roman shades?

Re: But mom! I wanna see!

  • I'm not sure what to suggest, but I suggest you make sure it's easy to clean!
  • I put up canvas curtains on my picture window and canvas romans on the side windows b/c my dogs and cats are "watchers". After 3 years they still look good and I use a fur mitt to de-fur. They haven't shredded or torn yet. (I do keep the cords wrapped up out of reach though) Good luck! Eta: my curtains are from pottery barn (c?earance) and the romans are from jcpenny

  • Is it possible to pull them up a tad during the day so they can see.  I know the last thing you want to do is give people a view into your house but a few inches may give the blinds a longer lifespan.  Otherwise I think you need to put something up that doesn't have so many moving parts i.e. roman shades.  Watch the JC Penney ads, I just bought 4 thermal roman shades for $88
  • We have this same problem.  We pull up the blinds and have curtains with the same color lining.  When the doggies want to look, they push the curtains to the side. It's  not perfect but nothing else would work either........they are lookers.  This way at least people can't see into our house but I don't have to replace anything and to me it looks less trashy than jacked up blinds.

This.  The cats like to look outside too.

Thanks.  I think this will work, especially because the sun really streams in the windows that they like looking out of.

  • ahahahah Karrey that pic of the pups is killing me! soooo cute!

All of our blinds are just drawn up a couple inches.
