lawn care service?

Do you use a lawn care service? If so, which one? If you don't, what are the reasons you chose not to?

I've never even thought about using one before now (HOA, more weeds than I'm used to, have a baby that plays in the grass, etc), and I can't figure out if it would be worth it or not. I hate the idea of paying for a monthly (or almost monthly) service, but I'm starting to think it might be worth it to have a great lawn that I don't have to work on much.

To clarify, I mean a service that fertilizes, kills weeds, etc, but doesn't mow for you.

  • We had Scotts before, (we cut back just because we were cutting out some expenses), we had a beautiful lawn when we had their service,  it was well worth the expense. It was more like monthly in summer times and in fall/winter they would come once, the service we had was $56 a treatment. I think they have reduced their prices, we got a call last week that we can start the service at $41 a treatment.
