Anniversary Plan Question

Did any of you do, or plan to do, anything with your families?  I saw Huskerz is inviting her inlaws over to help with the cake.

I ask because as a gift to the groomsmen and the dads, H bought a fifth for all of them.  My dad didn't open his and said he'd save it for our one year.  Brett & I are doing something on Saturday for ours and we don't have plans for Sunday.  I kinda want to invite my family over for cake, but I kinda don't lol.  So I thought I'd ask and see what you guys did/will do.

And I'm jealous of the fancy trips and cruises too.  Not fair!  :)

Re: Anniversary Plan Question

  • I don't think we are really doing anything with our families.  We will be flying home from DC on Sunday and kind of celebrating together next weekend.  I say if you want to have your family over, go ahead.  It's definitely something worth celebrating!

  • The inlaws are coming over more for a late Mother's Day since it falls on our anniversary and his sisters are back in town from college.  I just thought we'd offer the cake to them while they are over since MIL will be interested and one SIL is getting married this summer.

We brought the ILs wine from our honeymoon in Belize and I kind of thought we'd have it for our 1 year but they haven't said anything.

  • Our situaiton is complicated, but you asked so here it is!

We did not plan on eating our cake for our anniversary as it was in NY and we are in VA.  We thought we would share it with the family the next time we visited (summer sometime).  However we had to go up for a funeral and brought the cake back with us about two weeks before our anniversary.  Not wanting it to go bad we ate a couple slices with some lambrusco one random night.  We then had some friends over to help finish it.

We had planned to spend our actual anniversary at my brother and SIL's house in WI.  Because that was when the scheduling worked out for the entire family.  So we were going to spend it with family.  However we had to go to another funeral and spent the day with the other side of the family instead and due to the situation moved our anniversary to June 16th.

So in conclusion (this is horribly long) it's your anniversary, celebrate it however you would like!  I'm sure your family would be delighted to be included!

  • Wine from Belize?  I'd be begging them to open it!  That sounds fun.

Anna, that sounds crazy!  Was it at least yummy?  :)

I think I'll talk to H tonight and see what he thinks.  I'm so torn, cuz it sounds fun, but then again maybe not lol

  • I have no plans to celebrate our anniversary with out families.  We are going away so it will just be the 2 of us.  With the baby coming, we know we will be inundated with family soon enough, and I am tryng to steal all the private time I can with MH before that happens.  :)

Yep!  The cake was good, especially the bottom layer where all the rum sank to!  Yum, rum!

  • We don't have definitely plans yet.

H works on our anniversary, so we are celebrating the next day (the 30th).  I think we are going to dinner and then pull the cake our for a bite.  Honestly we will probably try it and then throw it out.  We aren't big sweet eaters.  Depending on how it's held up I might take it over to my inlaws the next day for them to have.

  • We didn't do anything with our families, but we saw them both at church that day, as we usually do, since we live in the same town and everything, so it might be a little bit of a different situation.
  • We don't plan to spend time with our families on our anniversary. Our's is the 30th and my birthday is the 31st, so we're planning on some quality time that weekend, just the 2 of us :)
