Got in yesterday afternoon! What a cool city. So much history...and Bourbon Street is RAUNCHY! Woooooooooooooo!
So far, my sis and I have been to Arnaud's for dinner last night where we had oysters Kathryn and shrimp remoulade and this amazing fish almondine...and discovered Sazeracs, our new favorite drink.
Then today we went to Cafe Du Monde for beignets and Maspero's for muffaletta with red beans and rice. And had sweet potato pralines (Sis thought she had died and gone to heaven) from a candy store that is selling chocolate covered ritz crackers stuffed with what looks like 3 tablespoons of peanut butter....we are going back to get one.
Tonight, Emeril's.
We also have a lovely club level room at the Windsor where they have a big continental breakfast with berries, pastries, smoked salmon, yogurt...and happy hours with appetizers galore, beer, wine and champagne...Clearly unnecessary. But God help us, we have been partaking of that bounty, too.
For the next few days....Commandeer's Palace, La Cote Brasserie...muffaletta challenge #2 at Central Grocery.....more beignets....
New Orleans ladies - we want more hole-in-the-wall places. Ideas? We have this thing about trying a Chinese restaurant wherever we travel to....but that may be forgotten this trip. It doesn't have to be regional food, though. Just fun.
Also, we want to do a tour or two. Whast would be the best? Plantation, Swamp, walking tours? We are up for anything although cemetaries don't thrill me. And we can do an extensive tour all day if it was cool.
We are going to the Garden district tomorrow to check out some art galleries, want to see the Aquarium, the Imax on Katrina, WWII Museum.....
Ideas! TIA!

You could go see Oak Alley plantation - not close by New Orleans but worth the drive.
The WWII museum is fabulous. If you go make sure to see, Beyond All Boundaries at the Victory Theater. We went a couple weeks ago and it was incredible.
Definitely go over to Hansen's Sno-Bliz on Tchoupitoulas St. and get an original New Orleans snowball. The cream flavors are to die for.
Also not in New Orleans but nearby if you have rental car is the Honey Island Swamp. They do fantastic tours, I've been on several
My husband swears that Nola Grocery has great, inexpensive po-boys. I guess it looks like a hole in the wall (I've never been) but the food is good.
I haven't ate here either but I heard Five Happiness is the best Chinese food in the city since you said you like to try Chinese food restaurants.
If you want a burger to die for go to Port of Call or Snug Harbor. Owned by the same people and they have the best burgers and baked potatoes. I promise
Port of Call opens at 11am but Snug doesn't open until 5pm. If you want to go to Port of Call go early or you'll be in line for a while.
If your in the Marigney for Snug Harbor for food or any other reason try and catch a show at their jazz club. Great music. Or swing over to The Jazz Playhouse at The Royal Sonesta in the Quarter and see Irvin Mayfield. We saw him play at Snug and he was fabulous.
I'm trying to think of anything else I've forgotten. Well I hope this helps. I included links, I hope they work, I figured that way you could see the places and the addresses.
