My baby shower was in Chicago on Saturday. It was a great party, lots of people, and lots of really cute things for the baby! I was given 5 different knit/crochet baby blankets and 4 of the fleece tied ends blankets too. This Minnesota baby will always be warm and snuggly! I feel so loved...so many family & friends came to see "us" and celebrate this new little life.
The general consensus is that Chiclet is a boy...based on the observations that my generation was all girls in my family, and that I apparently don't look like crap (old wives tale that girl babies steal mom's beauty). We shall see!
While in Chicago, my poor DH had to help my mom clean the nasty poop-pocolypse in her basement. She still doesn't go down there much since her knee replacements and my sister hadn't been down there in 4 days and when I went down to do a load of laundry, I was shocked to see dog poop...everywhere. Apparently my mom's dog was ill during the week and would go down there while my mom was at work. (Amazingly the smell wasn't detectible in the rest of the house...so nobody suspected anything for 4 days!) Bleach...lots of bleach was used to clean that up. ick.
Then when we got home last night, there was a DEAD MOUSE in my kitchen. Go kitties! This is the first mouse in the house. Horrible timing with the baby coming, but at least it is extra motivation for me to tear this place apart and clean really well now.
We're working on the nursery this week. DH finally apologized for not taking me seriously when I said I wanted it done before the shower b/c then we'd have a place to put things. After he saw all the gifts shoved in a tiny closet and scattered about the dining room, he understood why I was pushing him before. At least it will be done by early June.
thanks for reading...
Re: This weekend was interesting!
Sounds like an interesting time-moreso for you than for DH-wow! Dog poop and a mouse! But yah on working on the nursery!!!
Whoo hooo!
So glad you had a great shower! And I'm glad your DH came around.
Ah men you have to draw them a picture.
Sounds like you had an awesome shower and I'm glad your hubby realized why you wanted the nursery done before the shower and not after. I'm glad it will be done in the next month though and be ready just in time for Chiclet.
He did redeem himself by cleaning up your mom's basement. Just the thought of dog poop everywhere in an enclosed area with no ventilation is enough to make me gag.
YAY for baby showers!!!! Glad it turned out so nicely.
Yay for a fun shower!
Boo to animal issues!
