AW/PW: Another bridesmaid dress...
I was asked to be in another wedding...so one in March and one in May of 2011.
The first dress I posted about a few weeks ago made me panic b/c there aren't straps...well this other dress is also a strapless only design.
I have to be "fitted" for this dress next month...at 8 months pregnant...yeah. I'll just order the biggest size they make and hope for the best. I hope my hips/thighs fit! It is european sizing...which I know runs small compared to american ready-to-wear.

TTC #1 13 cycles, CP 6/09, TTC #2 1 cycle
CDing, EP'd for 13 months for #1, BFing for #2
Pregnancy Hypertension - inductions at 39w, I grow big babies: DD was 9 pounds 1 ounce 22 inches, DS was 11 pounds even 22 inches - both vaginal deliveries
Re: AW/PW: Another bridesmaid dress...
Agree-it is a very pretty dress-what color is she getting?
I, too, remember it being very 'hugging' to the body.
the color is sky blue...
the bride insists that she's seen it on a "variety" of girls in person at another wedding and it was flattering on all of them.
Sadly, I think her definition of variety is sizes 0 to 12...not 28.
I can have my hips/butt fitted now b/c they haven't really changed during the pregnancy - maybe I'll have to order extra fabric too.
Again...not a dress I would choose for myself - but I will make the best of it for the bride.

Softskate---they might have a similar style that doesn't flare... would she be into that for an option? THAT would be the style I'd think would be flattering. Not a hip hugger one...
I wish you luck on this!
(I truly hope and believe I'm done with being a bridesmaid any more!)
I would give anything to have it just be a simple floor length A line dress.
I'll go to a local bridal shop and get measured - if there is obviously no hope for my hips fitting, I'll let the bride know now.

Some brides... I've tried on that dress or a similar one, and I agree that it was a difficult fit. It was a snug fit on me. I'm a size 10, but I am pretty curvy on the bottom. Stuff that fits my hips/butt bags at the waist. I hope it can be altered (and not too expensively!) for you and the rest of the girls.
I have to say, the top of this one looks more generous than the top of the other one, so that's a plus!
My wedding dress was a similar shape and I do have to say it's more flattering than you'd think, but I also agree that the bigger the size, the bigger the gamble with this cut. Good luck, I hope it works out! Sorry it's such bad timing to be a bridesmaid for you, you'd think more brides nowadays would be more forgiving.
I'm with Jenny on this....Some brides....I agree that it is a beautiful dress but I just don't think it fits the mold of the one dress fits all......
I hope you find a way to make it work and that you are comfortable in it.
And this is why I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses...so much easier than trying to find one dress to fit so many different body types!
I hope you can find a way to make it work!
This. I even said they didn't have to wear the same color, they just chose to. If I did it again, I think I'd even just say, "Show up your favorite dress." I'd cry if I knew I put a friend under this kind of stress, especially about their personal appearance. I know there are flattering bridesmaid dresses out there that are good for a lot of shapes (like a-lines) but I think this one could be problematic on a lot of girls.
And now I'm thanking my lucky stars that I'll probably only ever have to be in my younger sister's wedding one day. I'm perversely looking forward to whatever ridiculous hot pink dress she stuffs me into.
