Shazzie and Musgral - gluten ?
Question for you - I'm sure I've talked about my friend that was recently diagnosed with Celiac. She's been sticking to hard liquor and mixed drinks since her diagnosis...but I very recently heard that Bud Light is a rice-based beer. Musgral, have you tried it? Shazzie, has your h?

Re: Shazzie and Musgral - gluten ?
oooh tell your friend to be careful! Bud light isn't gluten-free, but it does have a small percentage of rice in it, which is where the misconception comes from. The only real gluten free beers I know of are...
Redbridge, Bard's Tale, New Grist, Green's, St. Peter's, and a few others that are more of a cider than beer. We have a local brewery down here in Athens that does a gluten free beer, also.
While I do love to drink, I have really shied away from it since being diagnosed. I don't trust the bar tenders to clean everything that they mix a drink with, since cross-contamination with a previously made drink that does contain gluten is always a possibility. I am super sensitive and have an almost immediate reaction, and that is never fun in a bar lol. If I do drink, I stick to something that came out of a bottle directly, like wine, or one of the previously mentioned beers. When DH drinks beer he has to make sure to brush his teeth before he even kisses me...
Thanks for thinkin about me, but please let your friend know that Bud Light isn't gluten-free. I'd hate for her to get sick!
Damn it, I thought it was too good to be true! Another friend had heard the BL rumor, and I got so excited because BL is so much more available than GF beers. Thanks for the info! Drinking only bottled things totally makes sense.
She's in my band, and we have a four hour gig on Saturday - I'm just worried she'll get too trashed from drinking liquor that whole time! I think she's starting to use Celiac as an excuse to get extra drunk. That's all well and good when we're not getting paid to play music!
Have you tried Crispin cider (http://www.crispincider.com/cider/)? The bar we're playing at offers it, and the website says it's GF.
Are you feeling better from your gluten exposure this weekend?

Hahahaha I'd worry about getting trashed too! I've never had crispin cider, the only cider I've had is woodchuck, and it's yummy
I'm feeling much better, thanks!

haha chasing liquor with alcohol...classy
I went to college in central PA where there is a big debate over soda vs. pop and I overheard a conversation one night at the bar and the guy was like "what's with this soda vs. pop thing, just call it a chaser and be done with it" lol. I laughed so hard I almost spit out my drink.

Ummmm everything musgral said! haha
Sean really loves St. Pete's, but it's expensive and hard to find distribution, at least around here. He drove an hour away to get it. Easy to find ones are Redbridge, Bard's and Woodchuck ciders (which I agree on all accounts is delicious).
my blog
Awesome, thank you!
This thread is making me crave Woodchuck.
