I'm so excited!!! We're welcoming a new family member, a ~2 y/o male beagle, on Friday! In the meantime, we're busily making preparations for his arrival (it's our first dog!).
Anyone have any recos for a vet near Mason/Deerfield Twp area? Other general tips for us new pet owners? We're headed to Petsmart later in the week to buy supplies: collar, leash, bowls, food, treats, bed, crate, toys, pooper scooper, brushes, shampoo...anything else to start off??

Re: Vet Reco in Mason?
I highly recommend Mason Family Pet Hospital on 42. They are used by several rescues.
Training Tracks on 42 in West Chester has good training classes - also recommended to us by a rescue.
Congrats on your new little guy! Koda was my first dog and I was NOT a dog person until Jordan convinced me to get her. Now I'm a total dog person and couldn't imagine life without one. I'm sure you're going to love your new little one.
I think you've got everything covered, but I would suggest getting a bottle of Nature's Miracle or some other pet stain remover. We use the Woolite Pet Stain and Oder remover for the little ones and the NM for the big messes. Also stock up on the paper towls!
We go to Pfister's Animal Hospital on Cincy-Dayton in West Chester and love it. We also do training there with Dominique. She has classes at Pfister's and Red Dogs and we really like going. I wanna say DH and I get just as much out of dog training as Koda does. In the begining it was like "puppy therapy class" we told her our problems of the week and she solved them.

PS- You have to post pictures when you get the new guy!
This place is very nice.

They were very nice & helpful when my dog lost a nail & my regular vet was closed. (My regular vet is on the other side of town where I used to live)
Ditto We use them and they are amazing ! I would also look into Doggy Daycare or Boarding as well. We use K9 Kounty Klub.
Ditto here too. And we LOVE K9 Country Club too.
