New York-honeymoon

I hope I can get some help from you ladies. DH and I are trying to plan our honeymoon and we picked New York/NYC for our destination. I know, it's not the typical place to go to but it somewhere we both want to go.

So I am asking for any suggestions on what to do and stay. We are active people so lounging/kicking up our heals is not in it for us. Looking at the first couple weeks of August to go since it's between my classes.

TIA.

Re: New York-honeymoon

  • I love it there, but I haven't been since I was 13, so I'm not much help on where to stay. H and I were planning on going last summer and didn't make it because we moved to GA earlier than we thought we would.

If I were to go, I would see a broadway play, go to Central Park (I'm a landscape architect, so this probably means a lot more to me than most people lol). And I found this back when we were looking at going and saved it for some reason, so here ya go http://nymag.com/travel/visitorsguide/37579/

  • I'll have to check that site out more during lunch. Thanks.

  • oooh and I would check out the Highline! http://www.thehighline.org/about/park-information

It's this really awesome new park that James Corner has done, turning an old rail line of NYC into a public greenspace, situated above ground level, so you get some cool views without walking on the really crowded streets. It's supposed to be a great place to relax in the summer because of all of the interesting niches he's created. *jealous*

  • That looks good, too. Will add that to the list to look at during lunch.

  • i would definitely go to a show (i still have never gone to broadway, but i really want to go), and go to central park.

I'd go to china town, and if you're baseball fans, check out a yankee or mets game.

just a heads up though, august in the city can get really sticky and sweaty. plan on taking lots of showers haha.
