Anyone going to Taste of Cincinnati?
I think we are going Saturday and then going to the Reds game.
I've never been? What should I expect? Personal experiences?
Re: Anyone going to Taste of Cincinnati?
Expect to be overwhelmed by the food choices and come prepared to possibly be in a food coma at the game :-)
We loved it when we went a couple years ago. I don't know if we'll get to go this year :-/
I forgot that was this weekend! It always seems to sneak up on me. I plan what I try ahead of time too so that cuts down on extra spending - and I agree, my husband and I treat it as a meal so we usually spend about the same amount as dining out.
Have fun!
It's fun! Lots and lots of people and lines, but good people watching. We are headed to the lake so won't be going, but definitely would otherwise.
If you get a Metromix you can see all the vendors and what they'll offer as samples, including prices. There are also some really great bands lined up and the schedule and location is also in metromix. Wear comfy shoes and cool clothes. also, bring a purse with a shoulder strap- you'll need both hands for food and drinks. We've parked on the KY side and walked over and then to the game. If you go early enough, parking shouldn't be a major hassel, just pricey. That's all I got. Have fun!
I want to stop by but we'll see how busy our new doggy will keep us this weekend. When we were making arrangements to pick him up this Friday I totally forgot about the extended weekend which will put a damper on our original plans. But, hey, we'll have to get used to making compromises to meet little guy's needs so might as well start now!
Anyway...
It will be really busy and I tend to pre-game before going because I find that I can't get filled up without spending an arm and a leg. If you go too late on a given day, some of the best stuff will be sold out. My favorites in the past have been: Arloi Dee's Chicken Curry, Ron's Roost's Mock Turtle Soup and Fried Chicken, Izzy's Potato Cakes, and whoever has the best rated dessert for the year. I'm not sure whether those establishments are particpating this year or what they're offering but agree that checking out the map and list of vendors/food in advance can help you make the best of your culinary adventure!
Have fun!
Latest Blog Update: Peanut Butter Cookie with Salted Peanut Caramel
We go every year and will be going Sunday or Monday. Bring plenty of cash. We typically go late afternoon-ish so it serves as lunch and dinner (Linner) and late that night we might have a soup and salad. It definitely makes for a meal or two.
Late afternoon can be pretty hot and muggy - especially if the crowds are large so just be patient and prepared for that. Potty before you go
I try to go every year. We'll be there Sunday afternoon because our friends are playing at the Metromix Stage.
Since it's so crowded, I usually print off the list of dishes in advance and decide what I want to try so I don't miss anything. The list is on Metromix and it also shows what dishes won the Best of Taste.
Enjoy!
