I was running late to my part time job tonight because traffic was horrendous. I had to park a block and a half away because there was no room in the lots behind the shop. I parked, locked the doors, and started to walk away when I heard this loud crash behind me. I turn around and a guy who had been waiting to cross the intersection t-boned a bicyclist that he didnt' see coming. (driver clearly at fault since the biker was going with traffic - driver just didn't see him)
I am a first responder so I went running across the street and stop traffic from hitting the biker who is now laying in the street and another bystander helps him off the road because it is NOT safe there. there are probably 5 people standing around and I am the ONLY one with a cell. How does that happen!? I call 9-1-1 and wait with the biker until the ambulance comes. Thankfully, he has more or less superficial stuff - lots of road rash and a few cuts that are going to need stitches but otherwise seemed perfectly fine. He and I were even joking around because I guess he took a bad spill on his bike a few weeks ago wearing the same bike shorts he had on and now they're his "bad luck shorts". I told him to retire them after today.
I was super super late to work but thankfully, they weren't mad. It took me a good hour to stop with the jittery shakes from it. I'm so glad that he was basically OK and I feel terrible for the driver who hit him. I know that it was a total accident but still... scary stuff.
Re: woah - what a crazy night

Was the driver pretty shaken up?
