Hello Dallas/Fort Worth ladies!

My husband is trying to get a position at Tarrant County College starting in the fall.  We live in Michigan now, so this would be a big move for us and it would happen quickly!  We have 3 children, ages 13, almost 3 and 20 mos.

Any recommendations for neighborhoods, schools, etc would be greatly appreciated!  We would like to rent at first until we get an idea of where we would like to buy.  We need 4BR with all of these kids! lol

Thanks :)

Re: Hello Dallas/Fort Worth ladies!

  • There are 5 TCC Campuses that are pretty spread out across the county- which campus would he be working at?  That would help us give area recs :)

  • Oh!  Sorry!  See I have no idea what's there! lol

    It's the Southeast Campus :)

  • For SE campus I would look into the city of Mansfield.  It is a city in the very SE of Tarrant County. It has been the largest growing area for the past few years- big family communities, affordable new houses, lots of new restaurants and shopping, good schools.

  • I just wanted to say good luck, I am originally from MI and have been in Dallas for a year now :)
  • I grew up in the Mansfield area, and I'll be the first to say that the school district there is highly recommended. The neighborhoods are great and there are a lot of activities for children to enroll in. Shopping is good, and it's only a short drive to some great stores in Arlington. Good luck to you!
  • Ditto on Mansfield. It's a great area. I went to school there (albeit, quite a few years ago) and my parents are still in the area--my youngest brother is about to graduate from one of the high schools.

I think it's an even better area now than when I was there. Lots of schools, a VERY growing commercial community.

Honestly, if DH would approve, I'd live there in a heartbeat!
