So I figured out what I'm doing and thought I would share...
I'm making a newlywed map - we love to travel and DH loves maps so I ordered an antique style large map from amazon yesterday and am going to mount it onto a bulletin board and make a frame for it. We'll mark where we've been together and where we go in the future with little map pins. The map is paper and it gives us something we can use as decor in the office. Now I just hope it comes in the mail in time.

This is such a great idea!
I saw something similar on Etsy. They make a framed heart design from a map of a city that has meaning for you. Really cool and thoughtful.
I love this idea, especially as a creative meaning of paper.
Do you think you'll mark places you've gone individually too?
I'm debating on that one -- I think I'll leave the final decision up to him but I would rather we do it as places we've been together. Both of us have been all over the US but we'll want to take our kids to a lot of the same places and I'm thinking we'll get a different color pin to continue it for family trips in the future. I've also been to Europe and he never has so we're planning a big trip for our 30th birthdays and I want to take him to some of the places I've already been plus new ones too so I don't want to mark them off yet.

I love this idea, especially since you love to travel! Now I'm suddenly wondering if a map would look good over my fireplace...
How neat!!
We have one in our office too. I got a big Rand McNally world map and mounted it on a bulletin board. We use one color for countries I have been to, another color for countries he has been to, and a third color for countries we have both been to together! It is so fun to see it fill up and to change the colors so there are more and more places we've been to together. It really is special to both of us.
