Dear Lord please dont let there be a storm
I hate BP. i hate how nothing is working to stop this nightmare. There are so mamy people out of work, our marshes are being destroyed, and you cant start cleaning until the flow is stopped. They closed grand isle beach which is a very popular area to fish and vacation. I am just apalled and disgusted at all this. So this morning i realized that hurricane season is upon us. Wtf are we going to do if a storm comes this year. There will be epic disaster. I dont even want to think about it but reality is there will be something that will just totally ruin our state. No fish, no shrimp, no oysters, no birds, no farming, no economy. Just poison. Please pray for louisiana and the entire gulf coast. Thanks

A man in the news yesterday called this a "Monster's Monster" He couldn't be more right. It is really horrific what is going on down there. There's no way to skirt around the reality any longer BP, make this right. (as right as it can be). It's so sad. :-(
Wow, that would be awful....
PS - Totally off-topic. Do you watch Treme on HBO?
~~~MARRIED BIO~~~
BP cares more about their precious PR and branding than actually fixing this. The Corps of Engineers... strike two. Seriously. I'm not giving them a third, we have parish presidents (think mayor) that are going against the government and getting stuff done because they can't wait for the debate and red tape.
I'm just sick to my stomach about the whole thing. The marshes are irreplaceable, the wildlife is too. I just don't see why this is taking so long, and why no one seems to care. So angry about it all.
We were discussing this today, and actually joking about it... because i guess you laugh to keep from crying... that if a hurricane comes, we'll get oil pushed into the marshes, the lake, and have lovely oily rain covering the entire area. Then all the crap they keep throwing down this hole (golf balls, rubber tires, mud), will be showing up all around town. We were asking if the golf balls have a BP logo on them, so we'll know who to thank.
BP gave us (the state) 15 million dollars, to promote national advertising for tourism. Great. They were saying to push that restaurants are still open and that we still have seafood. We were making up slogans...
"Hey, we still got beef!"
"The smell of oil, is covered by a lovely aeresol spray, no worries"
"Booze"
I mean really. We have very little left. People are saying that it's our slap in the face for winning the Super Bowl because nothing good can possibly happen to our area.
Oh and I do watch Treme, and love it, it's pretty spot on. Grant it, it's very much one side of the story, but they do tell that side pretty well. I always have the song stuck in my head for days later. haha.
WHAT?!?! That's so stupid.
And I love New Orleans... please no hurricanes to make more of a mess.
Married bio
When I realized hurricane season starts June 1st, my heart sank. Not only is it devestating to the coastal economies and ecosystems, but it will reach further into the depths of Louisiana, MS, Alabama, Florida and into Georgia.
I'd also like to give a big FU to all the "higher ups" involved in all the finger pointing. While everyone wastes time blaming everyone else, nothing is getting done.
I also blame the media for all the hoopla. They're the ones that make people believe they need to cancel their vacations when really, many of the coastal areas are just fine (for now) and there are still areas that can be fished. We're still going to Ft Morgan the last weekend in Aug w/ DH's family. We're not changing our plans until things get too bad...which will probably be several months down the road.
I'm ready when called. B/c of AWC's mission we're only gonna send people down when they ask for help in AL. We were told that we could go on our own time and our own dime to other states if we felt like we needed to. I can't afford it, but I couldn't live w/ myself if I didn't go. There's a new pic and video of an Egret half stuck in oil and muck next to her nest w/ eggs covered in oil. I cried and cried about that and will always have that in my mind.
