Who watched? What did you think of the performances? And the singles each of them would release?

I hate to say it, but I wasn't very impressed last night (overall). I think Crystal is so talented, and has an amazing voice, but I agree with what Kara said last night - Lee is more commercial and has a better mainstream voice/image.
However, I wasn't very impressed with the performances. I don't think Lee did very well during any of them (I'm sure he was nervous - totally understandable!), and why in the world would his single be a cover of U2's "Beautiful Day"?? Great song, but just seems strange to not do something new!
When I heard Crystal was going to sing "Black Velvet," I was like "sorry, Lee, see ya' later," but I was so unimpressed. Such a GREAT song and I don't think she did as well as she could have. But I absolutely loved the single she did. I assume she wrote the song? It was so beautiful, and you could tell it meant a lot to her.

"Up to the Mountain (MLK Song)" is a contemporary folk song written by Patty Griffin. The song touches upon emotions surrounding Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous 1968 "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech, given the day before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee.
"Up to the Mountain" gained visibility through a live rendition by Kelly Clarkson, featuring intertwined electric guitar by Jeff Beck and a muted orchestra entering mid-way, on an April 25, 2007 charity episode of American Idol season 6 entitled Idol Gives Back,
A live recording of the Clarkson-Beck performance was made available for download on iTunes shortly after being broadcast on television and "Up To The Mountain" entered the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at number 56. This became the highest chart placement for a Griffin song.

i love lee! i'm not too crazy about crystal. i agree lee was def off last night cory agreed both of us love lee! apparently so does jameson b/c he was going nuts everytime lee sang! i really hope lee wins
