I'm bummed

So my CW's son is getting married on Friday. I've known his son for at least five years, he has done work for us for special events. The majority of the staff was invited to the wedding, but I wasn't. My CW has always talked to me that past few months as if I was going to be invited.

A CW asked him who was invited from our staff and he said "I think pretty much everyone that K has worked with" and she mentioned to him that I wasn't invited and he seemed suprised. I think he left it up to his son to get the addresses. I think there is a lot of tension between my CW (the FOG) and MOB, so he probably didn't even ask MOB if I was on the list and if he could get an invite for me.  I don't fault CW at all; it would just have been fun to hang out with my CWs that night. Oh well, with it being a Friday wedding the logistics with TH work and finding a babysitter would have been impossible.

  • That's a bummer.

DH and I weren't invited to the wedding of someone I would call a friend, when 99% of our mutual friends will be there. Stings, but what can you do?

And tension between FOG and MOB? That sounds weird to me. I can't imagine my mom and FIL being at odds over anything.

  • Is it possible that it was a mistake?  I guess there isn't really anyway to ask without it being awkward.

    Either way, I'm sorry Sad

  • That's definitely a bummer. :-(  I would feel hurt too - it's never fun to feel left out.

I think you should do something tonight with the fam - make your own fun!

  • I actually don't slighted at all. I my CW was left out of the wedding planning completely. I think he was under the assumption that K was inviting me. I can't imagine K saying "she isn't invited"...I just don't think my name was on the list for some reason. Then when my CW found out it was too late.

My CW is a single dad ad raised K pratically completely on his own and was really close to him. However the FDIL is a COMPLETE mama's girl and very spoiled. It is all about her and her family. Her mom basically took over the wedding plann and RD which CW was plannign on doing. She told him that everything was taken care of and then  came back and told him that he needed to a certain amount of money for the dinner. MY CW is a chef and could have easily prepared the food and gotten the food for way less.

  • I forgot one of BJ's high school friends when we sent out the invitations.  BJ found out about it and invited them, but I felt so bad.  Hope it was just a misunderstanding.  You are right though Friday weddings are hard to work around sometimes.

  • I forgot to invite one of my husband's friends to our wedding.  My H gave me the list of his friends to invite and then I found all the addresses and added them to our master list.  Somehow this one friend didn't get onto my master list.  It was completely my fault.  Just a few days before the wedding, someone mentioned that this friend didn't receive an invite and I felt awful.  My husband called him and explained that it was a mistake, but he said he already had plans at that point.  I still feel awful about that.

My point is, accidents like that can happen.  So maybe it was just an oversight?

If not, sorry you didn't get an invite.  That is a bummer since all your coworkers are going.

  • I'm sorry, I'd be bummed too :(

  • Sorry you didn't get an invite. I'd be bummed too, but like others said, maybe it was a complete accident.  Or maybe the darn post office screwed up.  Stick out tongue

Bright side - you don't have to worry about the logistics of it, or getting a sitter, or B missing work, etc.

  • Like I said, I totally believe it was an accident or oversight of some sort. It would have just been fun to hang out with at least two of my CW.

But it was a lot cheaper for us that we didn't get invited.
