I just need a vent. Right now I HATE everyone I work with. As many of you know I have Crohn's disease. The past week I have been having a huge set back, lesions in my small intestion and an infection. I won't be able to go back to work until next week if I am lucky.
So, the other day I call work and tell them I am to sick to come in for a few days. I was hoping to be feeling better today and come in for a small shift tonight. No such luck, Dr. calls today with my labs and it's a no go. I just got off the phone with our receptionist , and she is such a B*TCH. She only wants to know when I can come back to work, and proceeds to tell me that I am losing the salon money.
Then, one of my coworkers comes on the phone (i'm thinking to tell me to feel better), and she proceeds to tell me how everyone is mad at me.Some BS drama about 2 of our stylists leaving , and I knew about it and did not tell anyone. I really wanted to stay out of it. Everyone found out that the 2 girls were leaving today, through an outside source. The girls that are leaving assume I was the one who told (they wanted to keep working for the next two weeks until their new salon opened)proceed to send me angry text messages about how could I sell them out and I am a bad person. SO , they lie to our boss and say I must have made it up and they are not quitting(wich they still are ). I can't belive this , and this is so not what I need right now.
End Vent. Sorry so long.
Re: I work with a bunch of 13 year olds....
I would call your boss and tell them that he or she needs to coach their employees differently or they could be sued for violating the ADA and other laws.
...says the HR person at the Employment law firm.
On your side...Make sure you have a note from your doc excusing you from work and possibly fill out a leave of absence form. Don't know the laws there...but in Cali if you're out more than three days without a doctor's note, you can be terminated for job abandonment.
I am comin' to philly to give some mean girls a beat down. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this love. You should be concentrating on yourself and getting back to feeling better, not overdramatic little skuzzies like that.
Hope you get to feeling better soon and vent all you need. We are here for you!
What's ADA? I would love to tell my boss something like this..... Unfortunetly she is a 34 year old who only cares about herself and her boyfriend at the moment.
I'm off tomorrow and not far away at all! I'll pick up Kristy and we'll venture down...
That's horrible, Bella... It is. I'd do what Aria recommended. They're def needing a b!tch slap.
Like Jweat said, its the Americans with Disabilites Act. The catch is the salon has to employ at least 15 people.

Here is a glossary of terms: http://www.dol.gov/odep/pubs/ek00/glossary.htm

You can look around the DOL (Department of Labor, ODEP (Office of Disability Employment Policy), EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) and Disability.gov sites for more info. There's a ton out there.
They can be sued for discrimination (and again for retaliation if they have a bad reaction to your complaint). On the other hand, they can also plead hardship. All of this depends on how you are employed by the salon.
At this point, it's really effing annoying how they are acting. If they threaten your job, I'd get a lawyer.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with this BS. You deserve much better! Take care.
Ditto this!
You all really are making me feel better, love you all !
Aria..... it was very interesting looking over all of the info. We only have 11 employees, but I won't hesitate to threatenI I don't even think they would look into it further) if I encounter any more issues with them. Thanks again!
Go get 'em, darling! No one messes with our Novembies!
