Apartment hunting is not fun...
So, we decided to get an apartment instead of living with my 'rents. Smart move I'm sure. lol We'll still save a ton of money being a 2 bedoom apartment is a lot less than our mortgage payments...ooh, and we'll probably save ourselves a lot of aggrevation by not living with my mom. =/ If we don't find a nice enough apartment by the time we close on the house, then we'll crash at my 'rents for the interim...but it can not be long term. Well, most of the apartments I've called on don't have washer/dryer hook ups or are too small. One didn't even have a stove. lol This is not going to be fun at all. ooh, and the one's that sounded good were already taken...what a surprise. =/ Keep your finger's crossed for me...

Good luck Bonnie! I didn't weigh in on your other post because you had already seemed to have made up your mind, I think this will definitely be better. I've never seen a situation where people moved back home and it didn't cause major relationship problems.
GL with your search, and if I see anything I'll let you know. Are you looking strictly on the south shore?

Thanks Helene! Yea, I think it's a smart move as well...
Nope, not strictly looking at the south shore. Actually, if anything, I'd prefer to stay around Richmondtown or go further north due to my job location and Joey working in Manhattan. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me.
P.S. Did you ever make it to "Uncorked"? And how is your ankle feeling? I hope it's better...
Good luck, apartment hunting is the worst! I'm sure you remember my saga.
Are you going to be in the apartment when you have the baby? If so, keep in minds things that are ok for a grown up are not ok for a baby sometiems. Like th noise at our old place, never occurred tous pre-baby as a problem. B. however, saw it as a problem! Also think about layout- babies room too close to the kitchen or tv can be a problem (or was for us).
Hey there!
I'm sure you already thought about this, but would you consider working with a broker? It is possible to work with a broker and not pay a fee. Ask for "no fee" apartments - that way, the landlord pays the broker fee, not you. We found our apartment in one day this way - just gave all our requirements to the broker and he and she took us to see a few apartments. I
Good idea Karllen, but I see myself as not having the patience to do that. lol
Thanks for the tip Tracy...I will definitely keep those things in mind when looking for an apartment.
I never thought of that Rose. I know my sis said their fee is negotiable, but I didn't think there were actually No fee Real estate agents as a potenital renter. I will definitely look into that...thanks!
Yeah, they technically "work" for the landlord, since the LL is paying them, not you, so they have the LL's interests in mind before your own, although they will help you out. If you are paying the fee, they are more likely to be your buddy. However, this is a generalization, and I am just letting you know so that you keep in mind to keep your thoughts about particular apts between you and your H, rather than sharing every single bit of info with the broker. It's great though. They put your requirements into a computer program and then it spits out which apartments meet the reqs and then you go visit them! You can specify neighborhood, type of building, floor, amenities, pet-friendly, and of course, cost!
