Chapel Hill CC Question

So, we are aggressively house hunting in Chapel Hill, and our price range is NOT anywhere near most of the stuff in the chapel hill country club area.. but oddly enough, there is ONE house in our price range that is there.

The extremely odd thing is, there are about 25 houses for sale in that neighborhood, all over a million dollars or so - and then this one that is like at 450 or so.

Does anyone know if anything weird is going on with that area?  Are they building a highway next to it?  Did the stepford wives move in, and everyone is fleeing the scene?  Why would there be a LOT of homes for sale down the street?

And its totally weird, I mean like, you drive down that street and every other house has a for sale sign on it.  I've Googled for "issues" but haven't turned up anything yet.

Re: Chapel Hill CC Question

  • I don't live in that area, but an online resource that helped me tremendously when we were househunting was www.city-data.com/forum.

It's a lot like the nest, you choose the area of the country you're looking in and you can search the other posts, for that neighborhood or make a new post.  The people who post on the forum regularly were really nice and it was honestly the most helpful tool I used when we were trying to learn about neighborhoods/parts of town, etc.

     Good Luck!

  • Are you working with a realtor?  I know our realtor filled us in on a lot of the "issues" or backstory in different areas that we were considering.  And honestly it was great to know what was happening because that caused us to not buy homes that we loved.  I would definitely ask your realtor what is going on.
