PSA- Rochester Ladies- free mulch, soil, stone

I don't know if any of you were aware of this but the city recycles all the branches, leaves, pavement, etc it collects and makes them available in the form of compost, mulch, stone and top soil.  And it's all free!  DH went last weekend and filled our ILs pick-up with mulch.  Here's the link to the info:

And you don't need to be a resident of the city to take advantage of it!  Just thought I'd share in case anyone was planning on doing some yardwork this weekend.

Re: PSA- Rochester Ladies- free mulch, soil, stone

  • Thanks for the info K!  T

Too bad Dh and I are not residents of the city, we could use some mulch.

  • Wish my city would do that for me.  I'd love to have some free mulch!

You don't need to be a resident- there was no one there when DH went- it's just self-serve.  So if you are willing to make the drive you can have at it!

  • I think the town of Brighton does this as well.  :-)

    Thanks for the link!

  • Clarkson does it too. You just have to be careful, sometimes. My Dad got mulch from one of the towns once and ended up with a severe reaction(he is allergic to poison ivy). They don't always remove poison ivy from the tree before putting it through the mulcher.
