Reasone 53480920991100...

I'm leaving my job...

I have been here 6.5 years.  I was kind enough to say I would stay a few extra days.

Yesterday my boss calls me in and is like Office Nazi was going to dock your pay for the vacation days you took for your wedding.  Apparently I hadn't accrued enough time this year.  She tells me she told him not to do this and that i deserve the time.

There are so many things wrong with this, 1st... I had no idea (and neither did anyone else) that we had a policy about "acruing" time.  I get my 1st paycheck after Jan. 1st and there's always my full years worth of time.  THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD HAVE A MANUAL.

2nd.  Nazi is a DB for basically telling my boss I wouldn't have a paycheck for the remained of my time here (i'm here until 6/11).

I would have left if that would have happened.  It's just more reason for me to leave and proof i'm making the right decision.  This place is rediculous.

I just got an email saying I owe the firm $8.33 and they expect a check from me.  Serisouly?!?!

  • Mmm... I know each state has different laws, but I'm fairly certain they can't say you owe them anything.

That happened to a friend of mine and his former employer kept on him for a while, he kept ignoring it, and then they sent him a letter saying "this is the last time we will contact you about this." Ok, awesome. & he hasn't heard one thing from them since then, that was about 4 years ago. The fact that your employer  let you take & pay you for vacation time you hadn't accrued is THEIR fault, not yours.

You should tell them you just won't be in after today, so you can all call it even.

  • Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.

Give it to them in pennies. Seriously.

    From Oy Vey to Ole!

I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

    I've considered this.

Rose...BTW...i haven't forgotten, I emailed my friend today, so hopefully I'll have some info this afternoon for you

  • First of all, whoever handles the paychecks over there is dumb.  I don't agree at all with you owing them $8.33 but if I did why wouldn't they just take it out of your paycheck instead of you physically handing them the money?  If it's not stated anywhere that you didn't have those days then you shouldn't have to pay.  Seriously what are they going to do if you don't give them $8.33?  I'm sorry your almost ex-work sucks the big one.  At least your boss is sticking up for you on this!

  • C,

I agree with Marelina.  Go talk to your boss, the one you like, and explain to her what's going on and just let her know that after today you won't be back.  What they are trying to do is b.s. and you don't have to put up with it.

Besides don't you have some packing to do so you can move?

  • I agree with pps, I wouldn't go back at all. Save your sanity and just leave.
    Anniversary
  • um, wow.  Is there anyone you can talk to about this?  I don't understand why the Office Nazi is making the decisions on your vacation time when your boss had told her that it was not a big deal and you had really accrued the time.
