Fashion help

Oh wise A06 fashionistas, can you help me accessorize this dress:

http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=15292&pid=599784

It's for a wedding this Saturday. It's a somewhat casual affair so I think the dress is appropriate, but I want to fancy it up and am so bad at this stuff.

Re: Fashion help

  • If it were me, just a bracelet and some earrings would do.
  • Cute dress! If you have shoes in a fun color, that could add some interest.

  • How young is the crowd?  If it's mostly people in their 20's, I would have a lot of fun with gold jewelry.  Two of the following three (b/c all 3 would be too much):

    1. Gold hoop earrings
    2. Multiple-strand layered long gold chain necklace
    3. Thin gold bangles

The most daring of those would be #2.  It'd also probably be the most difficult to find when you're looking for it. :)

Looking at the list, I think the gold bangles are a must.  If it's a younger crowd, pair with the necklace if it's an older and/or more conservative crowd, pair with hoops.

I really see this with yellow gold, but you could also do it with white gold/silver accessories.

Have fun with the shoes, too.  If you have access to orange pumps, I think those would be great for fall.

  • Thanks, all! MD, it's a younger crowd, so I think I'll bangle it up. Fun! Orange pumps would be awesome... I'll see what I can rustle up by Saturday.
  • wow MD, you're daring!  I could never pull that off!
  • I'd go with a shoe with a lot going on. By that I'm not just saying simply go with a bright color, but rather an interesting design, print or applique. Thnk Valentino, not Chanel.

Haha, the most perplexing quote coming out of Paris fashion week "Novelty shoes are a must have".  Uhhh...

I'm thinking something with a bit more to it like this, http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3007719/0~2376778~2372808~2377035~2379517?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2379517&P=1 although it doesn't have to be as "out there" as Betsey Johnson.

  • i love the suggestions so far... you could also go relatively simple on the jewelry and shoes and pair it with a fun colorful clutch or scarf.
  • I'm liking MD's suggestion.

I don't know about the orange pumps (but that might just be because I'm scared of orange and it doesn't look all that great with my uber pale skin), but I LOVE the bangles suggestion.

To be honest, I'd probably do the bangles and the hoops for the wedding, but then get the multi-layered chain to wear with the dress to a different event with an awesome clutch and shoes.  But, then, I've become somewhat of an accessory junkie as of late....
