BONUS: Post a picture that motivates you. It can be a picture of you looking your best, a picture of someone else or even a picture of a destination (i.e. Maui)
I am planning on starting some tips of the week or some challenges for you all to try - especially those wanting to try something different. I'll try to start that next week. ![]()
Re: Friday Fitness Check In
1. This week i completed three insanity max workouts in the final stretch-one day added the ab workout, and one day added a scultping workout from brazil butt lift.
2. I pushed really hard through all my workouts. Hope this translates into better more aggressive surfing.
3. I try to do some sort of physical activity 5 to 6 times a week. And yes I put a lot of pressure on myself.
4. If i am running which i have not been I use my ipod-like the basement jaxx, christina aguilera, brittney spears, madonna, rhianna-high energy pop
Moi on most recent mexico trip-still could be a little leaner but overall feel pretty good and definitely want to maintain.
Wow Alix! You look amazing!
I'm in a serious funk. It feels like I spend all month working on losing 5lbs that I immediately put on the week before my period starts. It's frustrating! Like, last Thursday I was 152 lbs and then on Tuesday I was up to 158! I know that this is hormonal/water retention and everything, but it just drives me nuts.
Clearly I need to up my physical activity level!

WOO HOO Look at you Alix! I have no doubt you're going to be the hottest 40 year old around come your birthday. Hell... you'll be hotter than most 30 and 20 year olds!
Kaesha - I feel you on the funk. I've been having a hard time getting back to my normal routine since mid-April. It's hard to get my butt in gear.... so I'm right there with you.
I should probably answer my own Check In huh?
1. How much did you work out this week and what did you do for fitness? I went on a run last weekend which was good but I could tell I hadn't been running or doing stuff outside for a while. I didn't do much working out beside push ups and sit ups this week in preparation for my semi-annual fitness test. At least that's done. I scored just fine but the run is the only thing that kept me from getting perfect... which sucks but oh well. I'll test again in November.
2. Any achievements? What do you want to work on? I guess an achievement would be getting my fitness test over with and doing well. But I need to work on getting my booty to the gym and running outside more. I keep finding excuses.
3. What is normal weekly goal? Do you normally set realistic goals or tend to put too much pressure on yourself? A normal weekly goal is to work out at least 5 times during the week. I try to set realistic ones but I know I am hard on myself sometimes. Before I was married and I was living here by myself, I was at the gym and/or running every single day almost. Now I am rarely going... I need to find a happy medium.
4. What type of music/songs do you listen to while you're working out? Do you have a song(s) that get you really excited/pumped up? I listen to all kinds of music, as long as its a faster beat. I like songs by female artists that I can picture the music videos and I have a mental image of me working out leading to looking like them. Silly, I know. Also, I like to dance (even though I'm not good at it) so anything that gets me moving. When running I listen to a free podcast I found called Podrunner. It has new podcasts weekly and each time they are a different beat per minute so I have a variety for slower days, medium and faster days.
5. If you are a fitness beginner - what types of tips are you looking for (diet, schedule planning, etc)? What are you having trouble with as you start your new fitness plan? For fitness novices - what are some things you learned along the way that you wish you knew in the beginning? What are some tips that have helped you in the past? I guess some things would be you don't need to throw yourself into working out 5-6 times a week right away. If you are a beginning, you're already shocking your system and getting the blood/metabolism flowing. When it comes to learning the gym equipment - which I was hesitant at first - I found a time when it was slower in the gym and asked one of the people who worked there to show me how to use them. That way when I walked up to them I didn't feel silly. Also, I am guilty of either having too much cardio or too much weight lifting. Definitely try to find a happy medium. Lifting weights will NOT make you bulky. Just remember lighter weights, higher amount of repetitions.
