We are all set for the Master's.  I made a lot of phone calls and asked a lot of questions, whew, I know more about that tournament than I ever wanted to know!  We decided to stay in South Carolina, airfare to/from Columbia is around 60% less than to Augusta that week, and hotel rates are like a 1000% less than in/close to Augusta.

My request of you is for the names of the best BBQ places in the area.  We have a couple of days free to see Georgia/S Carolina so we are willing to drive just about anywhere for some awesome 'cue (and sights of course)!

TIA!

  • That's easy enough... Smile  Before I answer, I am going to check with a few of my friends that still live there to see if anything else has opened up since I left.  I'll let you know soon.

Good choice on staying in South Carolina.  Augusta itself gets crazy during that week.  Hopefully you'll enjoy your stay there!

  • Thank you, very much appreciated!  The tournament is what is really important so as long as they play as scheduled, it will all be good!  Everything else is just bonus.  S Carolina looks beautiful, Augusta not so much.  I hear there is a WalMart across the street from the entrance to the course.  Ironic?
  • It's actually really weird... as beautiful as the course is, it's in a bad/ugly part of town.  There are some beautiful parts of Augusta but where the Masters is held is not one of them.  South Carolina is beautiful.. Columbia and Charleston are great.  If you have time, Savannah is beautiful as well.  The buildings there are gorgeous and the food is delicious.
