My sister lives in Savannah, and we're trying to plan a visit (long weekend) in August. Got any must sees there?
Re: Marsh
Mrs. Wilkes boarding house-- only open on the weekdays but really worth it!
Uncle Bubba's Oyster House (This is Paula Deen's brother's place-- it was better than hers when we went!)
Just walking the river walk is fun there! They allow open drinks!

We didn't make it to Mrs. Wilkes because the line was pretty long (but we were there on a holiday weekend so that may have been why), but I have read really good things about it.
If you like art/antique museums, check out the Mercer Williams House. It's the house that was featured in the book/movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It was $12.50 and it was neat to see Jim Williams collection of art and antiques and also hear about the story of the house.
Also, check out the Telfair Museum. It's a three museum complex. Apparently, it's $15 for admission, however from what I read it gives you access to all three of the museums on separate dates. So make sure to go to the first one on Friday and then you can see the other two on subsequent days if you want. I didn't read about that until the day before we were going to leave so we skipped it.
Shopping in City Market and River Street is fun. River Street is along the river mostly, but there are some shops around the area above the river. It's kind of hard to explain, but you'll see when you get there. I think the "top" street I'm talking about is called Bay Street.
City Market is a little west of Paula Deen's restaurant on St. Julian Street. It has a number of restaurants and shops and when we were there a guitarist was outside playing live music in front of one of the restaurants.
We also made sure to walk along the streets that have all the squares. I know we didn't see them all, but we walked along Bull Street and Abercorn Street and saw all the squares on those streets. They each have a statue or memorial of some sort and it was interesting to read about the different statues/memorials. Forsyth Park is nice and seems to have various events that go on. There was a concert there on Friday in honor of SCAD's graduation. It's also just a nice place to walk around.
If you like churches, Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is beautiful.
We ate at a variety of restaurants including Lady and Sons (which was pretty good), River House Seafood (also good). There was a tea room we wanted to try (Savannah Tea Room), but it was closed on Sunday so we didn't get to go. That's something to keep in mind too. Sunday seems to be a pretty chill, laid back day and a lot of places seem to close. City Market and most of River Street appeared to be open, but some of the random shops/restaurants along the other streets were closed. It didn't stop us from having fun, but I just wish we had taken notice of store hours so we would know to visit those places on another day.
Wow, this got suuuuper long. I hope it helps though. Savannah is beautiful and I'm jealous your sister lives there!
