AW: we're buying a house!
MH and I have been thinking of moving to a bigger house since late last year. There's been all sorts of drama and emotional rollercoasters that normally come with these things, but anyhow, we put in a really strong (best and final) offer last saturday - we knew there were others on the table - and it got accepted! this past week has been a whirlwind of financing and inspection fun.
the owners built the house in 1984, and they've taken pretty great care of it. they also remodeled the kitchen (it's bea-u-ti-ful, i love it) and the master bath (a rain shower head! and heated floors! swoon - the inspector had to point this out to me, i didn't even see it when we decided to bid on the house, haha). we'll want to do a little bit more work to the finished basement, and some day, remodel the 2nd upstairs bath, but otherwise, it's pretty much good to go! the one downside is that there isn't a yard - the house is on a slope (the entire neighborhood is on a hill), so they've landscaped it and built a lot of very usable decks and patio space - i can see us spending a lot of time out there in the summers with friends.
we're still doing the final bits of negotiation over the inspection details, but everything looks like it's going to go well. keep your fingers crossed for us please!
