Toby is home safely with us and is adjusting well. The car ride was no problem for this little guy and he slept all through the night! He's such a sweet little guy
. We go to the vet in about an hour so wish us luck and I'll report back with more details, if we find out any.
And as promised, here's some new pictures!
Re: Meet Our Beagle, Toby!
I love him! Toby is so adorable : )
I'm so happy for you guys. I love our furbabies!
Update: The vet checked him again for a microchip at our request and again it was negative. This is bittersweet for me because I'm heartbroken that anyone would give this little guy up and yet I'm elated that that means we have no reason not to keep him. Toby is perfectly healthy and this vet also estimated him to be about 2 years old and 24 lbs. He is neutered but since we have no idea whether he has had all his shots (I suspect he did), we had to start from scratch so the visit was more expensive than we expected it to be but worth it. Oh and btw, thanks again for the recos ladies. We ended up going with Dr. Wolf at Mason Animal Hospital and he was great!
We went to our cooking class as scheduled this afternoon and so we had to crate him for the first time. The crate was one given to us by his temporary foster family and is a soft sided travel crate. We were warned that he had learned how to get out of it (it zips closed) so we thought we had a solution by make sure the zippers stayed shut together and put him the laundry room for extra security. I was so worried the whole time we were gone but we still had a good time (food was DELICIOUS!). When we got home, we discovered Toby had chewed his way out of the crate so guess we need to get him a new one! He also peed on the floor even though we were only gone 2 hours and I took him out before we left. I suspect he did it just to act up. Poor little fella. Guess these types are things are to be expected with a dog!

Congrats! He's adorable!
I had to do a double take looking at your photos. He looks exactly like my beagle. My beagle is on the small side, but I think that's about the only difference. She sleeps in the same curled up position! Beagles are stubborn and a handful but they are wonderful dogs!
Isn't it amazing how beagles are so similar? He reminds us of my IL's old beagle (RIP) in mannerisms and a miniature version

I voted for Toby! I think he totally looks like a Toby! We are thinking of switching to the Mason Animal hospital since it's so close to our house so I'm glad to hear you liked it.
When we first got our rescue dogs, they had a lot of accidents just out of fear and lack of routine. I just suggest taking the dog out every 2 hours when you are home, on a leash, and giving the dog a treat every time he goes to the bathroom. Our boston/JRT mix got so good at going to the bathroom when he pottied outside that he would just run over to us for a treat after. He was definitely disappointed when he was no longer rewarded for being a "good boy!"
