Re: June 1st Randoms
I'm also having a difficult time waking up this morning. I still feel sleepy and I've been up for 4 hours. I am also covered in mosquito bites.
What happened in the fog?
At least it's not Monday.
I made strawberry cheesecake pancakes yesterday. I kept seeing thsoe IHOP commercials, and decided to make my own. They were awesome. We had our neighbors over for brunch yesterday and they really liked them too. Pre-made cheesecake mix and strawberry pie filling made them really easy to do.
I hope this day goes by fast.
RECIPE PLEASE?!?
I had an accident in the fog 6 years ago. So I get freaked out when I can't see through the fog. However, the anxiety about driving in the fog has gone down!
All we did was buy the Philadelphia pre-made Cheesecake mix (you can find it in a little tub by the cream cheese in the grocery store), and canned strawberry pie filling, made pancakes, and spread the cheesecake mix on the pancakes and top with strawberry pie filling. It was super easy, and super yummy.
I had to nanny where they have no ac and I got bit up by mosquitoes which I am allergic to - I had HUGE bumps and rash compared to normal people.
I checked the bank deposit at wk, we are $10 short. I think I gave a customer back too much money. So I will take it upon myself to put the $10 in there tomorrow.
I leave for Petoskey Thurs night and have some much krap to do. I have to go shopping tonight but need to be very frugal. I am stressed about money stuff.
I woke up in a BAD MOOD.
I swear, if my husband sniffles or blows his nose like a dying duck ONE MORE TIME I am just going to lose it.
I hate it when I wake up grouchy. I hope your husband feels better soon!
Totally understandable. Glad the anxiety is going down at least.
Strawberry cheesecake pancakes sound like the most awesome breakfast ever.
SUZE - How was your trip?
Juli, the trip was amazing. It is so beautiful down there. I think you and Andy would enjoy it--there are so many hiking trails!
I posted a few photos to my FB page--we saw 4 bears! One of them quite close, probably about 15 ft away and got some really good shots of him. We also went whitewater rafting, which I love.
Sounds like a blast - seeing bears is always exciting! Whitewater rafting sounds terrifying to me for some reason, but I'm not a big fan of open water. :-P We actually did a quick 4 night out backcountry hiking trip there about 4 years ago. It was beautiful but we had really rainy weather.
Did you drive up the long road that snakes it's way to the top of a mountain? I forget the name but remember that was gorgeous and had lots of lookouts along the way.
I am not a fan of open water, either. In fact, I epic failed at snorkeling in Key Largo in April. I think the thing that makes rafting work for me is that I'm on a boat. I love boats. I just make sure to not fall in under any circumstance! It is very weird that I love whitewater rafting.
We drove to Cades Cove and then followed the loop around Cades Cove. I don't think we took the drive up the mountain, though. It rained for a bit everyday we were there, but nothing too heavy.
Hahaha I can just hear the dying duck sound in my head.
I'm with those who are suffering from mosquito bites. My legs are COVERED. I keep waking up at night b/c they are so itchy. Ugh. Hope they heal soon!

Oh also my random is that our fridge broke this weekend!! We tried putting everything in coolers w/ ice but it was so hot in our apartment that it got warm overnight. We had to throw out probably about $150 worth of food- mostly meat. Sad day.
We defrosted the whole fridge and it seems to be working again, but I'm still leery. We'll see...

Hi!
Suze, sounds like you had a fun trip! When I first read that your husband wanted to leave in the middle of the night, I was concerned that you guys weren't having a good time. Glad you had fun though.
Sorry to hear about those of you whose mornings got off to a bad start today. Although, LOL at the dying duck comment. :-)
I've pretty much been awake since 5 a.m. today. The neighborhood prowler cat came to visit again early this morning and got my cats all worked up. They're currently sequestered (sp?) in different parts of the house since they wouldn't stop fighting and growling at each other by the time we left for work.
I had a great weekend though! We went to Grand Haven on Saturday, road bikes and walked along the beach. On Sunday we went to a Tigers game where it was crazy hot but we saw a good game. Yesterday was my husband's birthday. We mostly just relaxed, but we did go to a book store and read travel books (still trying to figure out a vacation destination) and then went out to dinner at HopCat.
This random post got long. But there's my update for you!
Oh no, we were probably going to leave around 6 a.m. anyway. He just couldn't sleep and wanted to get going. The trip was totally done except for a few hours of sleep
I have another vacation suggestion for you! St. Augustine, FL. It is the oldest city in the US, so there is lots of history there, including a fort from the 1700s. There are also great Atlantic Ocean beaches. The average temperature in October is between 70-80. It should be really nice on the ocean at that time of year. Check flights into Jacksonville.
Mmm, HopCat. That sounds like an awesome weekend - good thing you were at Sunday's game and not Monday's - I felt bad for those people dealing with the delay and rain.
I'm willing to go just about anywhere except Florida. Growing up, my family's vacations were almost exclusively in Florida. Now, I want to go everywhere else!
We're looking at California again -- either spending the whole time in the San Diego area, or starting in San Francisco and driving down the coast to San Diego. Arizona is still on the list too.
Well, if I can't laugh at it, I'm glad someone else can!
My weekend was really boring. The only thing I did besides some cleaning was go to BRU and get the sheet savers and Boppy Cover that I was missing.
Hopefully today is better. H is off from both jobs, we don't have childbirth classes or hospital tour to take, it is gorgeous outside, and today is the 7th anniversary of when we started dating!
My Profile
Ha ha.
The weather was great in Da UP until Sunday night so we had been sleeping w/o the rainfly on our tent. When I saw the lightning and heard the thunder, I told my semi-drunk H we should put the rainfly on. He insisted "Nah, it's gonna blow over." I finally convinced him and about 10 minutes afterward there was an hour of torential downpour.
