Back-to-Work Tuesday...

I assume everyone is back at work today after the holiday weekend.  I can sympathize, since I was out the week before last week for Thursday and Friday, then last week on Monday and Friday, and then off yesterday for the holiday.  I definitely have some catch-up work to do! :(

I was off work for so long because DH and I went to Jamaica for SIL's wedding.  I think I complained about the cost on this board earlier, but as I expected, I was glad we went.  The wedding was beautiful and we had a great time.

One of my favorite things we did was go horseback riding in the ocean.  At first, they just walked along the shore, barely getting their feet wet, and we were kind of sad, we thought it'd be cooler.  Then, they changed saddles so they could SWIM!  We didn't really know that horses could swim, but they can!  We were basically just holding on once they got so far out that they couldn't touch the bottom.  We held on to the 1 strap on the saddle and our feet were out behind us so it was like we were laying on them.  Then it started pouring rain!  We were drenched anyway, but it was SO COOL.  I would highly recommend it to everybody.  I should post pics tonight - we have some cool ones, but it was raining so they're a little crazy.

The wedding was nice.  Definitely different than anything "traditional."  It was on a public beach at the resort, so there were a few unwanted guests, but overall, it was nice.  It was kind of weird that there were 2 other weddings that day.  I think the bridezilla in me would have freaked out, but SIL didn't seem too bothered by them.

They had a reception at home last Friday which was nice too.  Different again though, because there was no ceremony before hand, just the reception at night.  It felt like we skipped something, haha!

Anyway, I just wanted to update you with our trip.  Enjoy your week ladies.  At least it's a short one, right?!

Re: Back-to-Work Tuesday...

  • The wedding sounds beautiful!  I hope you got some pictures!!!

I'm actually still in Kentucky for my nephew's graduation.  Not only is the graduation on a Tuesday, but the poor kid has school this morning.  (That's where he is now.)  Furthermore, the school mandates that all graduates MUST stay at the school from the time of the evening graduation tonight until 3am because they're trying to keep kids from running off and getting drunk.  What a load of crap, in my opinion.  First, it's not their job to do that.  Second, if they're going to drink, they're going to drink.  Just because they don't do it tonight, doesn't mean they won't do it tomorrow.  Third, it's rude to people who are coming in from out of town to see the graduation.  We went out and celebrated early, but we would have liked to take him out to dinner afterwards.  Whatever, rural Kentucky school... I guess you know best.  Sad

Yesterday we went for a walk and came across what I think might have been a pitt/lab mix puppy... probably about a year old.  She was a stray, but was so well mannered that she surely came from a family.  I named her "Pretty Girl," or just "Pretty" for short. :) She walked with us the entire two miles of the walk.  When we got her back, we put her in my BIL's fenced in back yard, and were arranging to find a no-kill shelter we could take her to.  Unfortunately, she was so nimble she was able to get under the fence and escape... and we weren't able to find her again. :(  I'm still pretty upset about it all, and I hope she's okay.

How was everyone else's weekend?  Anything to report?

  • I had a nice weekend once my head drained.  Stick out tongue  Colds suck.  Spent all day outside yesterday and it was gorgeous.  I have an equally gorgeous red hue today due to forgetting my sunscreen.  Ooops!  Tongue Tied  I literally started crying last night because DH thought he'd be nice and scratch my back - not realizing I had gotten burned.  YOWZA.  He won't make that mistake again I think!
  • Wow, that wedding sounds like it was a fantastic trip!

We had a pretty low-key, but very positive weekend.  I had my first golf lesson, which went much better than I was anticipating--I hit the ball and everything.  So now I have another golf lesson next weekend.  DH is thrilled.  I also had a productive weekend as far as knitting goes.  I finished another sweater and made another sale.

And tonight, we're picking up our new kitty!!  They're meeting us at the vet appointment, so we'll be have our new addition home for dinner :3
