Port Aransas Condo Recs

I'm trying to plan our Labor Day weekend w/ the family.  I was wondering if anyone can recommend a Port A condo to rent.  We did Port Royal, but it was very expensive for a 3 BR.  We did Mayan Princess, and though we did like the pool, the 3 BR condo was clean, but not in the best shape.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Port Aransas Condo Recs

  • We've stayed at La Mirage a couple times and I've always liked the condos we've had. I have no idea where it falls on the price scale though because my FIL always pays for everyone. We will be in Port A Labor Day Weekend this year as well, but we are renting a house this time. :)

Port Royal is the only other condo complex we've stayed in.

I am starting to get a little worried about the oil spill and hurricane season effecting the coastline.. are you worried about that? :(

  • We usually stay at Island Retreat -- in fact, we'll be going down there in August! The prices are pretty reasonable, and it has beach access and a pool.
  • We normally stay at Seagull Condominiums...

  • My two favorites are Mustang Towers and Sandpiper.

Both are right on, and facing, the beach, which is a must for me down there!

Mustang Towers you can get quite a deal on, but it's kinda no-frills. All the beds and furniture are comfortable and everything is in working condition every time. It's just not super fancy, at least the rooms we stayed in. I have zero complaints!

The Sandpiper is where we stay when my (picky) Grandmother goes. It can cost a little bit more, but you get nicer rooms, as in new decorations.

  • I'm kind of worried.  I would rather wait to see if there are any discounts during labor day in reaction to the oil spill, but then, we might not get be able to get a decent 3 BR. FYI - My MIL gave me a newspaper clipping where Port Royal is offering a 20% discount on June and August rates but for Sunday-Thursday only and other limitations.
