We're having some folks over on Saturday and I have no idea what to feed the people. My ideas are as follows:
1. Lasagna - fine, but I made it for a gathering with the same people about 6-7 months ago.
2. Buy pizza from Little Caesar's.
Last gathering for these folks, I made fried chicken and the time before that, I made enchiladas.
Appetizers are going to be a cheese fondue and chicken strips (not together - pregnant SIL has requested chicken strips so they're just extra).
Any suggestions? I need to figure out both main course and dessert.
Re: Need party food help
Chili is always good.
Taco/nacho bar. (Easy way to make chicken for nachos/tacos - put boneless chicken in a crock pot with a can of tomatoes, some peppers, spices [cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion power {or actual onions}], and a little water. Once it cooks, use a couple of forks to shred it, adjust seasoning, and simmer.) Serve with fixins (no g).
Baked ziti. Easy, but different from lasagna.
I rule!
Unfortunately, now I really want tacos for lunch.
Me too. Hmph.
my read shelf:
big pots of stuff are the easiest for groups, i think. and since i have a huge craving for down home cooking right now, i vote for something like jambalaya or shrimp creole. (gumbo would be awesome as well, but there's a greater risk for screw ups than the others, which are not difficult.) r
achel ray has a good shrimp creole recipe. i know i know, i have lost all foodie credentials with that recommendation. but it really is good. and easy. throw some cornbread in the oven and hook up a salad and you're good to go.
