For those waiting to TTC...
What's on your list of things you still want/need to do before TTC?
I'm starting a list to keep my mind off TTC since it's looking like we'll probably put it off another year or so...

Re: For those waiting to TTC...
Hubby get a new job and/or increase our income or reach xx amt in savings
As far as fun things: I'd say an international vacation somewhere would definitely be ont he list of fun things to do before having a baby!
we've got 2 things holding us back right now - our upcoming trip to Africa (we leave 2 weeks from today!) and i had to get a measles vaccine as part of our trip, which means I'm not supposed to get pregnant for 3 months after the shot, which puts us around august...
so, i guess i'd say that we're trying to finish our big travels before baby, although we'll likely keep traveling once he/she is here - they'll just be a little harder to plan and we won't go for 18 days like we are this time!
Here's what I have so far:
- Get savings account to $X or more
- Take at least one
more vacation, preferably to an exotic beach resort with a spa and great
food and lots of drinks with umbrellas in them
- Finish laser hair removal treatments (not proven to be safe or unsafe for pregnancy)
- Finish
wedding album (4th anniversary coming up
)
- Finish editing Italy photos
- Select and
hang prints in family room
- DH - take GRE, apply to and start Masters
degree program
- Write wills
- Get better life insurance
- Lose
15 lbs
- Run a 5k
- Learn Flash
- Have a super-fun party
ETA: wondering if I should add run a half-marathon on there? I'm a couch potato right now so even a 5k is sounding pretty daunting... and I kinda hate running...lol.BFP 12.20.2010 :: missed m/c 1/2011 around 8 weeks

oh two more:
This is a good idea, kinda like a pre-ttc bucket list
I should come up with a good list since I think DH and I have come to the realization that as much as we may want to start TTC this year, financially we should wait a little longer.
Off the top of my head:
Do another triathlon (and improve swimming time drastically)
Get puppy #2 and make sure both are as well trained as possible
Finish my in-progress crafting projects
Get a permanent job situation where we can save $xx comfortably each month (that's the actual hold up!)
European trip (DH wants to backpack Europe and I can't imagine doing that post-baby)
My Bio (wedding pics added 7/6)
My 101
Get a bachelors degree.
side note: I hate to say it, but AustinBride, you might want to wait on finishing those laser hair removal treatments. My SIL had it done only to find out after getting pg that hormones (pregnancy) "void the warranty".
Nooooooooooooooooooooo! Don't tell me that! Well, I doubt I'll be up to much exposure post-baby anyway so maybe that's a good thing, hahaha.
Leigha12 - Getting a second dog (esp one whose potty training is questionable) definitely helped with my baby fever for a while. I couldn't imagine dealing with more than one "baby" 's bodily functions at a time. Oh, and my parents backpacked/camped Europe with me... cloth-diapered too!! I can NOT imagine.

loving the pre pregnancy bucket list!!!
Im emailing DH right now my list and asking him to send me his
Our big one is getting in a house where we have room to put a child. Honestly, if we had to, we could make this place work, but since I work from home (and work a weird schedule) and DH works from home frequently, we have two offices. Things would get cramped and cranky real fast if we gave up one.
Everything else is a "like to": I'd like to have a better exercise routine down. I'd like to lose 20 pounds. I'd like to finish writing a second book (I have this scary awful fear that if I don't get stuff written NOW, I won't get it done when I have a kid). I'd like to go to Europe.
"The House We Built."
A journey of building the dream.
Get a job that offers a good insurance and vacation! (I can dream, right?)
Having enough income to be able to afford to buy a stokke stroller and a bloom high chair!! LOL!! But that means we have to be in a much better shape than we are right now!
Lose 10 lbs (ideally 15, reallistically 10)
Buy a nicer and bigger car (I will accept a LR3 or LR4 as push present!!) Just kidding of course, but an SUV would be nice.
Mine are:
finish Ph.D.
go to Italy
save $
DH is itching to have a baby and I keep reminding him that we gotta get all this stuff in order first:
1. Pay off debt and have $X in savings
2. Buy a house
3. Volvo stationwagon for me
4. Get a dog
5. Take a major overseas vacation
6. Also, whoever said figure out how to deal with mom -- that's a serious one I have to figure out. Especially since we live 3 hours away from her now.
Now, we just need a more sound plan for how we're going to get all that done.

This is actually a great plan! Although we've been trying - although temporarily on hold now - I keep thinking of doing something like this. I think its good to set goals to work towards because it at least gives you a sense of accomplishment and getting closer to the goal.
Most of what I have on my list are "would like to" items since I'm coming to terms with the fact that I will likely have to go back to work. They are mostly things like pay down debt, put money in savings, and possibly take an out of the country vacation (may be a babymoon).
For me:
- Finish paying off all debts (student loans) and get my XH to finish paying me for our settlement (Its been 3 years, people!!)
- Oh, get married. :P
- What I think is most important: Finish my MBA, and get a job and feel "stable" there before TTC. I'm a bit younger than K is, so its doable.. but I'm secretly afraid of waiting my entire life only to find out we'd have fertility issues. For him:
- Have a ridiculous $x in savings (but if it "happens" before then, its OK).
- Get his startup company funded
Fun things?
Hell yes, I want that vacation in Santorini! Oooh, and, I want to PR my sprint triathlon time by another 10 minutes, and complete an Olympic distance tri.
