Im trying to talk DH into going to pick strawberries tonight at a local farm. The cost is $1.50 per lb. Think this is a good deal? I plan to try and make strawberry jam for canning. WDYT?
Re: Strawberries?
I think that $1.50 is a decent price, although you may be able to find it cheaper somewhere else. This depends a lot on where you live, though. Normally, a good price for strawberries here (at Safeway) is $2/lb...and they're often more like $3/lb.
Another thing to consider, though, even if you could find them elsewhere for less money....you're not going to find fresher strawberries than the ones you pick yourself! And in this situation, the money is going straight to that local farmer instead of paying for things like transport and storage.
I say go for it! Get super yummy, fresh strawberries, and support a local farmer!

I think the experience of going to a strawberry farm would be fun
It would be worth it to me. However, fresh fruits and veggies generally are more expensive in Guam so $1.50 is a steal for me
