Thinking of moving to Boston area
Hi there,
My DH and I are talking about possibly moving to the Boston area, more specifically in or near Salem. We have priced out different places of renting and checked car insurance and they both seem pretty close to what we are paying for in the Chicago suburbs.
However, most everyone we talk to in MA say how expensive it is to live in the area. What are me missing? When we were there last month things seems rather affordable, or comparable.
Thanks for any info!

Re: Thinking of moving to Boston area
Hi,
I think people might be taking into consideration the property and income taxes. But I'm really not sure, we might be comparable to the Chicago area in general but Salem is cheaper than living in Boston or the Boston area.
Up until a few years ago, national car insurance agencies were not allowed in MA so it was only local insurance companies who would charge ridiculous prices. That has changed though and now car insurance is great here!
Good luck on your home search!
You aren't going to find that the Boston area is any more expensive than the Chicago area!
