Holy Crap.

My company just hired a new person in the office to help with odds and ends things (yes, we've finally become THAT busy), who looks like he just came right outta high school.  While the OM was introducing me to him the OM asked how long I've been here and I said just about 8 years and I then went "Holy crap".  The OM looked shocked and said "Have you really been here that long already, oh wow!" I said "Well, it really makes me think, I'll be 30 in two years, when I started here I was 20, 4 months shy of 21".  That seems like SO long ago, 20, wow.  I am the first person to stay in this place, in the position I'm in, for this long.  Any other person who has done this job hasn't lasted more than 2 years max before either quitting or just walking out (I swear it's not a bad job, it just the OM's brother/President's son who happens to be the office a-hole that no one has apparently been able to tolerate him).  2 weeks from Wednesday I'll be 28.

Where has all this time gone?  Kids I used to babysit are graduating high school, some even college?!

Re: Holy Crap.

  • I know exactly what you mean.  I've reached my 7 year mark at my job and it's quite shocking to think it's been that long!  (And let's hope I can move on before I hit the 8 year mark)

What I have issues with is seeing kids I used to babysit getting married and having kids.  Pretty depressing if you ask me.

  • I know that feeling of "where did the time go?".  My little bro who I used to push around in a stroller and change his diapers just graduated from high school.  When I go into a liquor store and it says you have to be born in "this year" to buy tobacco products the year is 1992!!!    I was in 5th grade then!  Makes me feel so dang old!

  • Ummm . . . the brattiest little kid that I used to watch is graduating BYU and getting married this month.  Lets discuss old.
  • July 3rd will be my official 8th anniversary with this company (I actually started the previous May as a temp).  No one could believe I lasted as long as I did (especially in my old department).

I graduated from college eleven years ago.  Eleven.  Oy.

  • It does seem to sneak up on you quick!  As I mentioned in the weekend post, I was thinking about that when I was chaperoning prom.  When did I become old enough and responsible enough to be a chaperone?  Ten years ago I was enjoying my high school prom!
