Ideas for romantic weekend getaway?
I have been trying to think of what to do for DH and my anniversary this year, and I keep running into brick walls. I tried the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, but they are booked for the only weekend that we have free this summer (August 21). Can anyone recommend a romantic weekend getaway that's within 4 or so hours of Rochester? TIA!
Re: Ideas for romantic weekend getaway?
Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada is great. We've also done Toronto and the Falls for anniversary getaways. My bro and SIL went to the Pokonos for one of their anniversaries and enjoyed that too.
BTW- your sig cracks me up!
Thanks! My parents went to the Poconos for their honeymoon - I think I have images of the old 1970's heart-shaped tubs in my mind... ;-)
I was also thinking of Montreal, since I've never been there.
I agree with Read2Me - Niagara-on-the-Lake is nice!
1000 Islands
Montreal
Lake Placid/George
Saratoga Springs
Mohonk Mt. House in New Paltz http://www.mohonk.com/
Montreal's been our list forever, so I'd vote for that. It seems anyone I know who's been really likes it. PPs had great suggestions as well-
Saratoga might be tough to book and expensive, since that weekend is still during track season. Just an FYI
I think the other suggestions sounded nice!
there are also a bunch of other places to stay in Skaneateles, if thats what you had your heart set on ... Mirbeau Spa ($$ though), and some B&B's.
Ithaca/Finger Lakes can also be really fun in the summer too!
