good containers for freezing food?
In the next few weeks, I plan to start making up some extra dinners and freezing them for when the baby comes. What containers are good for this? The food will be in the deep freezer for 2-3 months.
TIA!
Re: good containers for freezing food?
i freeze spaghetti sauce, soup, taco meat/black beans, cookie dough, shredded chicken, chicken broth, pancakes, etc. in freezer bags. for the soupy/saucy ones i just lay them flat on a cookie sheet until they're frozen and then they are easy to stack. i make up casseroles and lasangas in those aluminum throw away tins and put foil on top.
I've been meaning to freeze in my actual casserole dishes. i think as long as you cool the food before you put it in the freezer it would be fine. if you don't have many casserole dishes you could freeze one, pop out the 'square' and put it in a freezer bag, then reuse your dish for another one.
I forgot about those vaccum bags. We have used them and they do keep food frozen very well.
I haven't frozen a lot of food but we use those bags usually around Christmas time for leftover ham
This. When I freeze casseroles, I freeze them in the casserole dish with the lid (I have several that have lids, and several that don't) or aluminum foil.
