Is my Rx killing my sex life?
I started taking Lexipro for anxiety right around the time I got married (last summer) and we went from having sex 2-3 a week to about once a month, if that. I am thinking about going off of it, because I don't want to be like this, but I have very little sex drive and H isn't exactly doing anything to get me excited to crawl into bed. I'm having a hard time evaluating the pros and cons of the medicine. Does anyone have experience with this?
Re: Is my Rx killing my sex life?
Yep. Talk to your doc about trying a new anti-depressant. They all have side effects, usually sexual, but some work better for some people than others.
I switched from Lexapro to Effexor, and things are much better now, for example. It can take awhile to find one that really works for you, but I think you should give each med. about 3 months before switching - your body has to adjust. Your doc can help.
I had the same side effect on Lexapro with Wellbutrin. I then decided to go off all my meds but, I have to watch my diet and exercise so that I don't get to anxious or depressed. It's hard work but, I feel so much better after 2 and half weeks I noticed a big difference on how I felt and now 6 mo. later I continue to feel and look better.
Good luck on what ever you end up doing!
If your doctor "never seems that interested", I would get a new doctor!
this exactly! they should be very interested in what you have to say. On another note, I was on zoloft for anxiety and didn't have any sexual side effects.
