Dog Groomer Rec

Hi all!  I would greatly appreciate any dog groomer recs, and approx. how much you pay.  I live South, and would like to find someplace closer and cheaper (I currently pay close to $70 per dog, and that seems crazy).  That said, one of my shih tzus has about 50 major skin tags/moles, so I need someone pretty skilled or else they'll nick them, like the groomer did on Saturday.  (I tried the search function, but couldn't even get "dog" to come up, even though there's a dog post on the front page of the posts.  Argh.)  Thanks!

Re: Dog Groomer Rec

  • I can only half answer ... I have a beagle so she doesn't actually get trimmed.  I take her to Groomindales off of 2222 (just west of lamar).  For her nail clippings, it runs $7 or $8 including getting them dremmeled (sp?).  I dont think there's much turnover there, and the employees there actually seem to really love pets.  I'm guessing if you call they can probably quote you over the phone.

Oh, and my dog has black nails and long quicks, and they haven't ever made her bleed.  That's the main reason I take her there - i've had some bad experiences where her poor nails have been seriously cut at other places.

  • I know many people don't like Petsmart but I have to RAVE about my groomer at Petsmart- Marilyn. She is at the Petsmart in Southpark Meadows. I have followed her to 3 different Petsmarts now and love her. She knows my dog by name and has always done a great job with him. When I call to make an appointment all I have to do is say my first name and she immediately asks how Mason is doing. She is older and very good at what she does.  His haircuts are around $40.
  • Thanks to you both!  Most of my friends take their dogs to Petsmart, but I would feel better knowing someone's name to ask for specifically.  Thanks so much.
