Teachers?

Hey, Teachers!

What are you guys doing this summer now that school is officially out? I'm looking for ideas that save money but will keep me from being bored! :)

I'm so excited about this break!!!

Re: Teachers?

  • i am focusing on getting to the gym regularly, and I'm going to go through every single room in the house and get rid of stuff.  that will take all summer!

  • I'm making it a point to read every day.  I've decided to re-read Harry Potter, cause I'm a nerd.  I'm also going to the gym a lot.  I've made it 5 times this past week :) and lost 2 pounds.  I'm also watching kids for other nesties and friends of mine.  Why not make extra money :)

  • DH is "teaching summer school" which is actually a credit lab... basically he babysits them while they do independent study on computers.  4 mornings a week for a month, super easy.  He's also researching grad school programs and going to take the GRE and apply.  I can't tell you how happy I am that he's being productive and proactive this summer.  The first couple of summers he had off he literally sat on the couch and played video games and drank coke the entire summer. He gained 10 lbs and then whined that he didn't do anything all summer.  Besides summer school, he's already taken a trip to Austin to see Neil Young and is taking a road trip to Chicago with his buddies to a music fest in July.  I think he's going to have a pretty good summer. :)

  • My summer is going to be pretty busy.  We just bought a house so we're moving soon.  I want to get the house fixed up and host a party.  We have our anniversary at the end of this month so hopefully we'll do a little something for that.  I have conferences and I plan on taking some graduate level online classes.  Other than that...I hope to be exercising regularly, relaxing by the pool and reading.  As great as it all is (except the conferences) I do miss the summers of doing nothing!

  • This month I'm making up for so much lost time with my DH, DS and our dogs.  I'm also giving our home lots of TLC and I'm going to various appointments I didn't have time to go to during the school year.  July will be some more of the same, plus professional development and some work I'm doing for my district.

So far in the last week, I...

went to the Cameron Park Zoo

    went to the movies

went to the library and browsed picture books I'm too cheap to buy

read about 40% of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, in addition to a book about Versailles, the first third of the Wizard of Oz, and the first part of Alice in Wonderland

planted a whole lot of flowers

    tried paint samples

    Zumba'd

    installed shelving

sewed a baby quilt for a soon to be born nephew

    took dogs to dog park

washed dogs after the dog park

    played video games with DH

went to 2 swimming lessons with DS

    went swimming 3 times

    repaired a water fountain

set up a new bird bath

started mapping out the skeletal structure of a new book or screenplay (not sure what the story wants to be yet)

     hosted a book club meeting

     made homemade ice cream

In short, I'm making the most of my time this summer. :)
