Furniture in the Triangle??
Hi Triangle Ladies!
DH and I have been looking for living room furniture for months now and I am about to lose my mind! We have gone to all the "normal" stores in the area, have trekked out to Hickory Furniture Mart AND Furnitureland South and still have not found what we are looking for. I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for random, fun furniture stores that might not be on my radar in the triangle area. I live near Triangle Town center, but am willing to travel most anywhere in the area to find some funky, unique shops that might carry what we are looking for. Thanks ladies!
Re: Furniture in the Triangle??
Have you been to Green Fronts, Hunt and Gather or Furbish?
GreenFronts buys up show rooms from HP Furniture Mkt and sells at a discount. Hunt and Gather is a co-op that sells mainly old stuff but is fun to refurbish if you are into that. Furbish is an awesome little store that is a little trendy.
I was walking through a Bi-Lo shopping store Saturday night and saw the coolest "rustic" furniture. Now, I like that kind of stuff. I don't know what your tastes are, but as far as the wooden furniture, don't be afraid to see a cabinet or furniture builder that does custom interior work. They have great ideas and can make almost anything. I know custom cabinet makers that build cribs to become heirlooms for families. The cribs are actually assembled so that they will turn into a twin bed once the baby gets old enough and some other sort of convertible piece. Anyway, my first thought was, "ooh! I like this rustic furniture!" but I don't want to buy furniture from a grocery store on a Saturday night. If I share a design that I come up with with a local furniture maker, I can support small businesses, locally and help stimulate the enconomy. Ikea does have crazy stuff, but if you've looked there, start looking on the internet for pictures of what you want and visit someone custom. There's a lot of wood to choose from and haggling you can do if you're worried about price.
If you're looking for more upholstered items, I'd ask around with furniture makers and see what you learn about what's out there.
